Chennai: In the final of the Tamil Nadu State Six Red State Ranking Championship held here, J Varun Kumar(MCC) defended his title successfully by defeating Pranit Ramachandini(MCC) by frame scores of 5-2. Throughout the tournament Varun played exemplary snooker and he carried his momentum from his first match till the final. Although Pranit gave a good fight with a break of 54 in the final, Varun was just impeccable on the table.
In the semifinals, Varun trumped S A Saleem by defeating him 5-1 to reach the final. Pranit played his best game in the semi finals against S Shrikrishna by defeating him in the deciding frame 5-4. Shrikrishna missed out on a crucial brown in the deciding frame and Pranit made sure to pot the winning balls to reach the final.
